THE PROBLEM

Replacing a Manual, Error-Prone Process

The SCRA needed to modernize and automate the tracking of Cameroon’s legislative process, parliamentary activity, and the work of the Economic and Social Council (CES). The existing manual system was error-prone, inefficient, and difficult to manage, especially given the complexity of a bicameral parliament and the CES.

From Design to Implementation

I was the sole architect and builder of this platform, from the initial design of the system architecture to the full implementation. It was my first real-world software architecture solution, combining multiple services and technologies to meet the needs of a public-sector institution.

Optimized for routing efficiency by choosing Go over Node.js.

Selected Django for rapid prototyping of complex parliamentary relationship models.

Leveraged Supabase's built‑in security while maintaining custom role logic in Django.

Challenges

Designing a system that could handle the complexity of a bicameral parliament and the CES, while ensuring security, performance and maintainability, was a significant challenge, especially as a first real-world project.

Outcome

The platform is now live and in use by the SCRA, providing a modern, reliable and efficient way to track legislative processes, parliamentary activities and CES work.
